Scripture – “In the spring, at the time when kings go off to war, David sent Joab out with the king’s men and the whole Israelite army. They destroyed the Ammonites and besieged Rabbah. But David remained in Jerusalem.” 2 Samuel 11:1
Observation – At the very beginning of this story, we see that the time was when the Kings would go off to war. But David “remained in Jerusalem.” Instead of being where he was supposed to be, he stayed in Jerusalem. If David had been with his men, he would not have been able to get caught up in this whole Bathsheba deal. But he was in a Jerusalem and not with his men. This appears to be one of those situations where he found himself in the wrong place at the wrong time. And then David sinned. He then attempted to cover it up by getting Uriah…
